However, there is still some dispute about both compounds, which are considered naturally occurring constituents and could mean an exemption may apply, according to the American Herbal Products Association. FDA provides new report and guidance on dietary fibers FDA Law Blog FDA has announced the release of both a report and draft guidance addressing issues around dietary fiber. The report summarizes its scientific review of evidence for the beneficial physiological effects of 26 non-digestible carbohydrates. Summaries of each review are provided and provide insights as to the criteria the agency found acceptable, as well as studies that did not merit inclusion. The agency asserts that the review is consistent with the draft guidance issued last week. McCormick & Co. continues to execute on its growth strategy with its purchase of Italian flavoring company Enrico Giotti SpA, a manufacturer of organic and natural flavors and aromatic herbal extracts, for $127 million in cash. Private equity-based reference materials company LGC has closed on its third acquisition this month with a deal to buy U.K.-based BRC Global Standards.
