Total sales for the first quarter of 2017 hit €2.6 billion compared to €1.91 billion for the same period last year. Net profit increased by 75 percent. Read more→ PRODUCT TESTING ConsumerLab tests kelp supplements for iodine content Nutraceuticals World Kelp supplements are promoted as a natural source of iodine, an important mineral for thyroid function, but are they a good alternative to regular iodine supplements? ConsumberLab.com recently tested six kelp supplements sold in the U.S. and Canada and found that half contained approximately twice the amount of iodine listed on their labels. One of the products was also contaminated with the toxic heavy metal arsenic. Given that too much iodine can cause negative effects, the company says consumers should choose products carefully.
