It was announced yesterday that UNPA member Genysis Brand Solutions, based in Salt Lake City, was sold to Anaheim, Calif.-based Nellson Nutraceutical, a North American formulator and manufacturer of branded and private-label nutritional bar and functional powder products.
Genysis affiliates Dyad Labs (formerly Genysis Labs) and Sensapure Flavors have been spun out as independent entities and are not included in the transaction.
Genesis Brand Solutions will operate as a subsidiary of Nellson. Adam Schwinghammer, president of Genysis, will stay on as a key member of the executive management team. Nellson is a portfolio company of Kohlberg & Company LLC, a private-equity firm headquartered in New York.

Jeff Reynolds, founder and president of Dyad Labs noted that the newly named entity will relocate to a larger facility in Salt Lake to better serve Genysis Brand Solutions and its growing roster of third-party clients. Reynolds, who also founded Sensapure Flavors, a provider of powdered flavorings, and serves as CEO, noted that Sensapure will relocate and expand to a new facility in Salt Lake and has secured a location in southern California for a flavor technology office.
