UNPA / Registration now open: FSVP training, Feb. 28-March 1; Annual Members' Meeting, May 8-101/8/2018
Dear Colleagues, We’re pleased to announce that registration is now open for two upcoming UNPA events: Foreign Supplier Verification Programs Course for Foods and Dietary Supplements
Feb. 28-March 1 Salt Lake Community College, Miller Campus Sandy, Utah Only 30 seats available! This course is designed to help participants understand the role of food importers under the new Foreign Supplier Verification Programs (FSVP) rule, part of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). Foods covered under the new rule include dietary ingredients, raw materials used in dietary supplements and natural products marketed with a Nutrition Facts panel as a food product. The course will focus on the expectations of the new rule and will explain the requirements of importers. Many importers are already outside of compliance with this law, published in 2015. Who or what falls under the FSVP requirement: For the purposes of FSVP, an importer is the U.S. owner or consignee of a food offered for import into the United States. If there is no U.S. owner or consignee, the importer is the U.S. agency or representative of the foreign owner of consignee at the time of entry, as confirmed in a signed statement of consent. See Am I Subject to FSVP? for more information. $895 UNPA members & MOU Partners $1,095 Non-Members Visit the UNPA Events page for more details and to register. 2018 Annual Members’ Retreat May 8-10 Stein Eriksen Lodge Deer Valley/Park City, Utah The 2018 Members’ Retreat returns to central Utah with a focus on the business of dietary supplements in the 21st century, including a regulatory update featuring Steven Tave, director of FDA’s Office of Dietary Supplement Programs; a deep dive into the market opportunities and challenges in China and the Pan Pacific region; a crystal ball look at the future of the industry; and insights into UNPA’s forthcoming initiatives and projects.
