Dear Colleagues -- At 3:00 PM eastern time today, the attached letter, jointly signed by AHPA, CHPA, CRN and UNPA was sent to the office of each member of the House and Senate. This letter is the result of significant negotiations and joint efforts by the four associations to urge Congress to provide FDA statutory authority and resources to regulate CBD products as dietary supplements without the need for a multi-year rule-making process. We are urging Congress to exercise its statutory authority to clarify that CBD derived from the hemp plant is a lawful dietary ingredient. Also, should this happen, we would expect full compliance with all provisions of the FDCA, DSHEA and FSMA with respect to good manufacturing practices, label claims and all other compliance criteria now in effect. We will need your support to contact your members of Congress. Please stand by. We will give you the signal when the timing is right. My thanks to Peter and Trish and our colleagues at AHPA, CHPA and CRN for continued efforts to establish a lawful category for hemp extract and cannabinoid products. Cordially, LDI ![]()
