Dear Colleagues --
First, we wish you a happy new year and all the best for continued growth, progress, and good health in the coming year.
We start off the year with an important announcement regarding a major conference in China (program attached).
The conference title is "The China Health Industry Technology and China Microecological Health Conference". This conference is organized under the official auspices of the Chinese Central Government and is being organized by authorized associations with media coverage provided by CCTV, the official Chinese television news and information network. There will be over 2,000 attendees -- mostly industry experts and physicians, together with key industry representatives and companies.
The purpose of this conference is to lay the groundwork for a large-scale study regarding microecology (pre- and probiotics) and public health in China. The goal is to build a meta database regarding the consumption of pre-/probiotics and the potential to improve and reduce healthcare needs and costs.
This is a very forward-looking strategy and likely the first effort ever undertaken to assess the role of probiotics as part of a national health master plan. The speakers include very high level former and present government ministers and senior officials, together with experts in the field of microecology.
I am honored to be invited to speak on the subject of the improvement of microecological health from natural food products. I will do so in my capacity as president of UNPA. This is a real honor, and I thank Daniel Mabey, our Asia General Manager, for his work in making this possible. We regard this as a hugely important opportunity, both to understand how the Chinese government will approach the use, sale, and regulation of probiotics, but also how to build a bridge between our UNPA membership and our Chinese counterparts to encourage the use of probiotics and other natural health products.
We are informed that UNPA members are invited to attend, but you will need to have a China visa as well as authorized permission to attend. The venue is the Great Hall of the People inside Tienanmen Square. This is a highly unusual honor to hold a conference in the most important national venue in China.
If you are interested to attend this conference (short notice, we know, but this is how things go in China), please contact Kira Olsen (Kira@unpa.com / 801.474.2572) ASAP. Time is short, logistics are a little complicated, and we need to confirm that your attendance has been approved by the conference organizers.
