UNPA offers its congratulations to our friend and colleague Ikhlas Khan, Ph.D., director of the National Center for Natural Products Research (NCNPR) at the University of Mississippi’s School of Pharmacy, on receiving the Outstanding Contribution Award in Traditional Chinese Medicine Analysis and Standards.
The award, presented by the Society for Traditional Chinese Medicine Pharmaceutical Analysis, was presented to Khan at a ceremony held in Beijing earlier this month, where Kahn was recognized for his work at NCNPR on quality-assessment methods of traditional medicinal plants.
By developing new technologies and strengthening relationships within the industry, the society, which is part of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, and NCNPR, each strive to improve the safety of dietary supplements and traditional medicines.
“My goal is to encourage more collaboration, since the quality and safety of herbal products is an international issue,” Khan said about the award.
NCNPR produces the International Conference on the Science of Botanicals (ICSB) each spring on the UMiss campus in Oxford, Miss. For many years, UNPA has been a title sponsor of this event as it presents the unique opportunity for industry to interact with and learn from executives of the Food and Drug Administration, which funds NCNPR, and botanical researchers from around the world. The 2018 ICSB is scheduled for April 9-12, 2018.
With warm regards,
